Conference General Information

 

Garuda Special flight schedule
There will be two special flights by Garuda from Manado to Singapore.

  • Garuda special flight I  : GA 8510, depart Manado, May 15, at 10.35, arrive Singapore at 13.55
  • Garuda special flight II : GA 8530, depart Manado, May 15, at 19.50, arrive Singapore at 23.10.
  • Garuda special flight III : GA 6094, depart Manado, May 15, at 22.30, arrive Jakarta at 00.30. 

Participants are advised to contact the hospitality desk or information center located in front of Grand Kawanua I for the reconfirmation of their departure means and time.

 

 

REGISTRATION
Registration of delegates takes place at the Registration Center located at: Grand Kawanua I, Grand Kawanua Convention Center, Jl. Mr. AA. Maramis, Manado, North Sulawesi.

ACCREDITATION
All delegates, conference observers and journalists attending the Conference and related activities are required to be accredited and in possession of an identification badge.

BILATERAL MEETING
A number of rooms at the Novotel Hotel are available for bilateral meetings of Heads of Delegation. The rooms may be booked on a first-come-first-served basis. A Bilateral Desk is located at the lobby of the Novotel Hotel. 

WORKING LANGUAGE
All meetings will be conducted in English. Simultaneous interpretation will not be provided throughout the Conference. All documentation will be issued English.

IDENTIFICATION BADGE
Please note that access to the conference area is restricted to registered participants to the meetings. In order to comply with the security requirements of the Conference, participants are expected to wear their badges at all times while inside the conference venues and to access WOC official transportation vehicles (Shuttle Busses). Lost badges should be reported to the Registration Counter immediately. For security reasons, we recommend that you remove your identification badges when you are not in the conference venues.

DRESS CODE
Manado is generally warm and humid this time of year as it enters the dry season, with temperatures ranging between 23°C to 31°C. Humidity in North Sulawesi on average is 73 per cent. Given this condition, participants are advised to leave their jackets and ties after the opening of the Conference and until the High Level Segments of the Inter-Governmental Meeting, and throughout the WOC side events.

MEDIA CENTER
Special press and media facilities will be available from Monday, 7 May through Friday, 18 May at the Grand Kawanua Convention Center. Additionally, a media and press conference room are also available between 12 May through 14 May at the Manado Convention Center. The Media Center offers various services to accredited press and media representatives, including PCs with Internet access and plug-and-play facilities. Staff in the media offices facilitate bookings of the Press Conference Room and interviews with delegates or other key speakers/panelist .

MEDIA BRIEFING
Media Briefing is planned to be given everyday at 11 a.m. and 5.30 p.m. by the Secretariat of WOC at the Sydney Room, Grand Kawanua Convention Center. Media are kindly requested to seek confirmation from the Media Center.

TRANSPORTATION
Daily scheduled shuttle service from and to the WOC main venues to official hotels will be provided for all participants and accompanying persons. Information on route and schedules will be posted at the main venues and hotel lobbies. About 50 shuttle busses will serve WOC registered participants. Please use your badge to gain entry to the shuttle service.

HOTEL AND ACCOMMODATION
Before departure from Manado, delegates are expected to settle their accounts directly with the hotels for all accounts, including room charges and, where appropriate, local and long distance calls, laundry and valet, telex, cable and facsimile, restaurant, bar and room service charges and any other chargeable in hotel activities. The check out time at the hotels in Manado is generally 12.00 PM. Delegates wishing to check out at a later time should make arrangements directly with the hotel management.

COMPUTERS AND PRINTERS
Computers and printers are available for participants on a first-come-first-served basis. These computers allow for Internet access and are equipped with word processing and spreadsheet software. Wireless hotspots to connect to the Internet are available around Grand Kawanua Convention Center and Manado Convention Center.

BANKING & CURRENCY
The Indonesian currency is Rupiah (IDR). The currency exchange is approximately 1 USD = IDR 10.500 as of May 2009. Most foreign currencies are easily changed at airports, banks, hotels, or money changers. The currency exchange rate fluctuates daily. Check the bank for the latest exchange rates. Banking hours are generally from 8.00 to 16.00 on Monday to Thursday, 8.00 to 14.00 on Friday and Closed on Saturday and Sunday. Money changers are generally open until evening and ATMs are available at various places.

LOST AND FOUND
Lost and found items are kept at the Registration Counter located at Grand Kawanua I, Grand Kawanua Convention Center. For security reasons, unattended items anywhere in the conference premises will be removed.

FIRST AID, HEALTH SERVICES AND EMERGENCIES
A health clinic is located at the back area of the Grand Kawanua Convention Center. In the event of medical emergencies at the Registration Counter, or the Indonesian Red Cross located at Jl. Wolter Monginsidi, tel.: (62-431) 838311.

TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS
All participants to the Conference are advised to finalize, at an early date, departure travel arrangements. Immediately upon arrival in Manado, participants are advised to contact the hospitality desk or information center for the reconfirmation of their departure means and time.

AIRPORT DEPARTURE TAX
An airport tax of 150,000 Rupiah (±10 USD) is imposed for travelers on international routes and 30,000 Rupiah for those on domestic routes. Airport tax is payable after Check-In at the airport.

TIME ZONE
Manado is in the Central Indonesian Time zone, which is GMT +8 hours.

ELECTRIC CURRENT
The power used throughout Indonesia is 220 volt and 50 cycles. In most hotels though, you may find two pin sockets for 110 and 220 volt each, two pronged slim plug; or a converter may be available through the housekeeper. We suggest you take an adaptor for your appliances.

GRATUITIES
Tipping is not encouraged in hotels and restaurants if 10% service is already included in a bill. Tips from satisfied customers are always welcome. At most hotels, a service charge of 10% is added to the bills. An airport porter expects 15,000 Rupiah per bag.
